Gallatin Fun Facts
Gallatin was established in 1802 as the permanent county seat of Sumner County. It quickly became an important center of commerce and trade due to its strategic location along the Cumberland River. The city's original name was "Cambellite," but it was changed to Gallatin in honor of Albert Gallatin, who played a significant role in shaping early American economic policy.
